While the enclosure looks sharp, it attracts a lot of dust on the sides and on the top. Also, I can't think of a reason why Seagate chose to not put rubber feet on the bottom of the drive. I have an an IMac with OS 10.7 Installed. There is no power cord to worry about, just plug into the USB slot. I clicked on the installer for MAC's and just followed the on screen instructions. There is the option to have it be strictly MAC formatted, or being able to go between MAC and Windows, without reformatting. Once installed, it is just a matter of placing the stuff to be backed up on to the drive. I am not sure how well it works on the Windows platform, but it is very easy to use and without problems on the Mac. It does what any one would expect a hard drive to do. Since it hasn't failed, and performs to reasonable expectations, I rate the drive itself a 4*.The software is extremely lame. I have numerous folders/sub-folders/files from several computers to back-up. I could find no way to associate a name to the targeted folder. Since there is no name or identification, it's impractical to manage multiple targets having various back-up regimes that differ. One target may be set to run say continuously while another may be weekly. I believe a mistake could easily be made if unable to identify the target for back-up. I also don't like the way the software backs up a targeted folder as it copies the directory tree of folders, sub-folders, and files in the hierarchy above it.
